Aftercare
Second Skin Healing Method
For most tattoos, we apply a medical-grade second skin that acts as a protective barrier and allows your tattoo to heal with minimal intervention.
-
Keep the second skin on for 1–3 days.
-
If you notice redness, excessive blood, or irritation under the film, remove immediately and contact your artist or a medical professional. Some clients may experience mild allergic reactions to the adhesive.
-
When it's time to remove the second skin, do so gently in the shower with warm water. Wash the tattoo thoroughly with warm, plain water.
Recommended Aftercare Product
We strongly recommend using Inky Tattoo Salve for aftercare. It is vegan, natural, and promotes excellent healing.
-
You can purchase Inky directly at the studio or through their website.
-
Always apply a thin layer, avoid heavy application.
The Healing Process
-
During the first few days, you may notice flaking or light scabbing, this is normal.
-
This initial phase usually lasts 1–2 weeks.
-
Avoid scratching or picking at the healing skin to prevent patchiness or damage.
-
After flaking finishes, continue moisturizing for at least 1 full month to support deeper healing.
-
Full skin regeneration can take up to 6 weeks.
-
Some shininess or mild itchiness is common during this period.
Touch Ups
-
Touch-ups are free when lines fade during normal healing, send clear photos for assessment.
-
Changes to the design (thicker lines, darker shading, adding details, etc.) are not considered touch-ups and require a separate, paid appointment.
-
Touch-ups on high-friction areas (fingers, wrists, joints, ankles) are not free, as these areas naturally fade faster.
Additional Healing Guidelines
-
Gently wash your tattoo daily with warm soapy water.
-
After removing second skin, keep your tattoo uncovered and allow it to breathe.
-
Apply a thin layer of aftercare product daily.
-
Avoid scratching, peeling, or picking at the tattoo.
-
Avoid swimming, soaking, or heavy sun exposure during the entire healing period.
